drzaius
I have a Rikon 10-325 bandsaw, which after a pretty rocky start, is turning out to be a good machine. However, it doesn't have a brake & there must be a better way to slow it down than grabbing the blade Seems to me that DC injection is the best way to do this. VFDs can do it, but this is a single phase machine & I have no need of a VFD on it. Has anyone tried this, and if so, how did it turn out? I have lots of electrical & limited electronics experience so I think I can figure it out, but other's experience may help keep me from blowing something up. Lost part of a finger doing that with a two foot grinder stone.

That's how I do it now, but looking for a more elegant solution. 6 minutes ago, C Shaffer said: Lost part of a finger doing that with a two foot grinder stone. Ouch! I've tangled with the belt sander a time or 2. One should never underestimate the danger with abrasive tools.
