sawdusty
I liked the carving detail the Marc did and I decided to go for it since I've already have done the tapered inset. I also decided to do the mortise with hand tools since my router skills are a bit shaky. Thanks to excellent teaching from Marc and the Handtool School I was able to hit the target of last week's guild podcast. (first time no do overs required ). So I thought I'd just share a few photos. sawdusty
Looks like I did not post the photo correctly, so here is a re-do attempt
ChetlovesMer
Nice work. I didn't have the guts to try it. I did the router and jig technique.
sawdusty
Nice work. I didn't have the guts to try it. I did the router and jig technique. Thanks Chet, I have a few simple carving tools that made it a little easier to do than just using chisels as Marc did. On my practice piece I used just the chisel and tore out the detail similar to Marc's experience.
