tim0625
Yeah, often someone can make a unit cheaper as a unit that we can put it together. When you can 'pick it up' for about the same price, that's what I do too.
davestanton
I know most people in here already know the best way to keep their cast iron surfaces in top shape, but have you tried using festool products to do it quick and easy? I will definitely use this method with my rotex 90 once the inevitable rust starts this summer....

trz
Is that all pocket screwed melamine? Makes for a very bright shop!
davestanton
No, the main units are all face screwed as they but up against each other. Just the mobile unit is pocket holed.
trz
Regardless the whitemelamine really helps brighten up the room. Im surprised more people dont use it in their shops.
davestanton
Easy clean and white were the main reasons I used it. My shop is water tight so no issue with particle board swelling etc. My reasoning was if they use it in kitchens, another work area, why not in my shed. Cheap enough to buy and easy to make boxes with.
davestanton
I did an update video today for the table saw, router table. It shows a better way to measure distances with my set up.https://youtu.be/FIDpoGxqSfo

rodger.
I really liked your miter saw video. How did you get the top of the saw bed to line up perfectly with the countertop?
davestanton
I built either side first, then the unit the saw sits on allowing a little to shim to correct height. Works a treat!
davestanton
I keep getting these ideas! Just installed a Kreg bench Klamp on my roll around screw box holder mult function bench thingy. Have a look here if you want to. I also added some enhancements!

-MattK-
Good stuff, DiO. You said the thickness of the plate was too much to route out in one go? Was thinking when you zeroed the router you could have snuck the kreg piece in there between the template and router plate in there to know the full depth needed. Is there a size of router where you'd feel comfortable taking that in one go?
davestanton
Hi Matt. Yes I could have done in one pass but I have a rule of thumb that I only plunge 1/8th inch at a time. My router is 30 years old and works like new so maybe there is something to be said for that?Glad you enjoyed the video!
rodger.
Nice video! What adaptor are you using to marry the festool dc to the pocket hole system?
davestanton
I think it is a rubber fitting from a washing machine waste hose.
davestanton
I finally bit the bullet and bought a Kapex. Gotta love this saw. Have a look at my little review and how I integrated the saw into my own shop. Click here.
