Rowdy, around this time last year during a recording of WTO several of the guys in the chat room mentioned that they were from Atlanta and we should get together. So, I ended up getting everyones names and e-mails and we all met and had a great time and continued to meet. Being a blogger I tend to write about everything I do and soon several other woodworkers from around the country said they would love to participate if they didn't live so far away. We decided to formalize the group and have each of the areas around the country be chapters. The purpose of our group is to take friends that we meet here online and get together in local meeting and from time to time meet up as a larger group at woodworking shows.

We are not very formal and all that we ask of members is that we try and get together and get to know one another better. At the MWA site (http://modernwoodwor...association.com) you can read about past events, things that are coming up, and just about anything we feel is relative to the group.

Rowdy, along with talking about all things wood, shopping at Woodcraft, we also have one heck of a good breakfast.

Hey John,

How do we get a list together or query the group to see if there is interest?

I'm not sure. I'm in the Boston area, so I wouldn't make many of the Chicago get-togethers ;)

it looks like Chris is the National chair, so I'm sure he could help out.

Understood. Thanks for your replies John!!! I WW in a vacuum and I'm sure I could use input of my fellow WWers. The forum is great, but it's hard to get the same feedback as in person. I'll await Chris' reply!

I'd be interested in a NW Chicago suburb meet. All the existing clubs, Dupage and Fox valley are to far south to make a weekday night meeting. maybe we could start planning for the Lie Nielson event in Apr, or try a interesting seminar at rockler in Schaumburg, I think they are also having a Sorby turning demostration soon.

I have the L/N event on my calendar already and Rockler isn't too far from me. I'm not a turner though. You know of other interested parties? I am hoping Chris is able to comment. I am going to send an email to him.
