Does anyone have experience with the installation or repair of skylight shades?

We have 2 Velux shades that no longer work - the motor (at the bottom of the unit) works but it looks like the spring/coil in the top part is gone - it doesn't retract the shade. If I pull up on bottom of the shade it will "go up" but the shade part just sags because the cord is not retracting. As soon as I let go, it must detect the weight of the shade (because it is not being pulled up) and the motor stops.

I'd like to fix if possible but couldn't find any information online about rewinding or resetting the springs. Anyone have any experience with these ?
