Hi all -
I am working on a cherry bookshelf that contains some flutes. I routed the flutes with a 3/8" diameter box core bit. At the ends of the flutes there are some light burn marks that need to be removed. I have tried sandpaper, emory cloth etc with no success.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can remove these burn marks.

Any suggestions are welcomed!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Chris

I've had some luck with a goose neck card scraper, but I'd like to know if someone has a better idea.

I recently ran into this exact problem. I ended up taking a blade from a hand-held jig saw (saber saw) and rounding the tip over on my grinder. I made the radius a little smaller than the flute itself. I then filed the edge sqare and put a burr on it with a burnisher. I wrapped the bulk of the blade in tape (yep, those teeth hurt after a while) and used it as a scraper to get into the ends of the flutes. It's not perfect, but I couldn't figure out any other way to get in there!

Good luck!

Take a wood dowel and sand the end down (shape it roundish or like a spoon) to fit the flute, attach some sand paper.
