Byrdie
I prefer the router table for making stopped dados and rabbets. Other wise it's only used for decorative trim, round over and the like. Through dados and rabbets get done with the dado stack at the table saw. Just my preference.
sawdustandwoodchips
In Sawstops FAQs it states Do not use dado sets with solid-plate interior chippers" what are these? I have a CMT set - that I like a lot - but do they have solid-plate chippers - they are very solid :-) in a fine woodworking article - http://www.finewoodworking.com/how-to/article/how-to-cut-tenons-on-the-tablesaw-with-a-dado-set.aspx in 2009 Michael pekovich is using a similar dado stack. Just looking for clarification. Thanks in advance.
sawdustandwoodchips
I just got a reply from Sawstop Yes that blade is just fine. The FAQs is referring to ones where the chippers are not "wings" but instead full plates like the two outside blades of your stack.
ChetlovesMer
I've had the SawStop ICS for almost 10 years. I've run several different dado heads. Delta, Freud, Dado King, a cheap crappy one from Menards (... don't ask.) Anyhow, I've never had an issue. I've also never adjusted the depth of the break for a dado head. Never tried the Dadonator, however.
sawdustandwoodchips
the issue is not whether it will run - it's whether the brake will stop the stack. surely if you are using 8" dado sets then the standard brake is never going to stop that blade in a timely fashion - the distance from blade to brake is going to be almost one inch from it. But maybe I am just misunderstanding, and you are using the dado brake and have never changed the gap...
