Boatworks Today
Has anyone been able to find a spec sheet on PM's new bandsaw that's coming out this Fall? I know the model isn't released yet but would like to try and find out a bit more about it other than what's on the limited video's from the WW shows... Specifically HP, max blade width, etc.. Thanks!

Onboard
Here’s a video of an interview with a Powermatic rep at the recent IWF trade show (3 min 20 sec). They discuss the features of the PM1500 and a few specs. Not much information here, but for what it’s worth.
bosox
What blades do you use?
Boatworks Today
Looks like this one uses 160" blades. Did a quick search and seems to be a fairly common length.
mlingenfelter
I'm planning a band saw upgrade next year, and I'm going to give the PM1500 a close look. I think it's released in Nov. By the time I get ready to purchase, there should be more information and "reviews" about it. Mike

Boatworks Today
PM1500 has arrived. If you look at it, it's really true that's is a slightly smaller (and 400lbs lighter) PM1800 - they look almost identical. When i get it fired-up, ill post some feedback. So what's the verdict? I'm on the fence between this model or one of the units from Jet. The PM is a bit more expensive but I also know their quality. In your opinion is it justifiable? Thanks :-)
SMeekWoodworks
I really like the looks of that bandsaw! Hoping to upgrade in the next couple of months and that may be the direction I look first.
dwacker
I'm going into the guts of the thing to rewire it with a 'proper' cord -- you've got to take the lower unit apart to get to everything... I'll take a good poke around and post... I think some value-engineering has taken place -- instead of a wiring block on the side of the unit (like all my other PM tools), the harness is threaded through the frame and lower unit... Obviously saves some $$ on parts and labor, but a pain if you need to change the wiring... Makes you wonder what they were thinking. Mine came with a cord so short that if you pushed it against the wall it wouldn't reach a normal height outlet. My jointer came with a 2ft cord and my planer came with the same 2ft cord. Luckily my band saw has an access panel. Don
Boatworks Today
==> Mine came with a cord so short that if you pushed it against the wall it wouldn't reach a normal height outlet. ==> Makes you wonder what they were thinking. -- I bet it takes me 2 or 3 hrs to get a proper cord on this thing... I'd be slightly pissed Is the problem you mentioned with the power cord or something else? Surprised that PM would design something like that?
