  1. #33 What can I say, I'm a little slow. But I have an excuse. It had to get there by dog sled. I am a proud Canutian, eh. I would like a red (as in the Canadian flag) supporter.
  2. In the new and improved web site I can't seem to fine the "recent" posts as in the previous era. What am I doing wrong?
  3. I'm no expert but it sounds like the switch needs replacing.
  4. Thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering if 1/8" hardboard would work rather than 1/8" ply? pros/cons Jim
  5. A cheap suggestion, 1/4" hardboard for the top. It can be replace when beat up & the 2x4's remain healthy.
  6. In my opinion, for whatever that is worth, your list of projects is on the small side. You could probably do them all with the power tools you have and maybe add some hand tools to compensate. Don't let the guys at the club raz you. If they think it is so important for you to have a better "whatever" let them buy it for you out of your budget. You have stated your budget and you must also do the other things you want to do. I get really tired of guys who look at a post that says "I have a budget for $x" and then they say the orig poster should spend more. What, didn't you read the original post that said $x? As a pastor I will end my rant with "End of sermon. Amen."
  7. Another possibility is to go to a junk yard, er, auto recycler, and see if you can get just the pin off of one of their used rotors? Just my 2 cents.
  8. This is actually a couple of years old. But still priceless.
  9. A fully aligned table saw (blade, fence & mitre guage) is also very important. If the wood is being forced into the back of the blade it will have a tendency to burn.
  10. Here in Ontario I just installed a subpanel. Pulled the permit myself and as long as I did the work myself I was OK. The inspector had two minor concerns which I fixed by the end of the day. I sure was happy when he put the sticker on my subpanel.
  11. I have had the Triton for a few years. Had to replace the switch. Triton guys in Canada were great to deal with. It works great for what I need it for. Need to drill a hole in the plate for an above table adjustment. (Just drill the hole in the right place. Don't ask me how I know this.) It has plenty of power and doesn't seem to be a pain to set up for me. I don't have the PC so no comparison here.
  12. It might be possible to make your own riving knife out of a 1/8", or slightly less, piece of sheet metal. It would take some cutting with a jig saw & drilling but it should work.
  13. Another support, although somewhat of a cheat, is to put a 3/8" plywood, etc. backing to give it support. Along with the other ideas it would have the support it needed. IMHO.
  14. Even Marc admits that his wonderful and well thought out shop is in transition and purposefully built in the idea that things are always in transition. For now build a cabinet and just understand that it may work for a short time or for a long time. Everything is temporary until you lock your shop for the last time.
  15. I like my big Triton but like many others I had to replace the switch. Funny though. A store specializing in repairs said that it was difficult to get the switch & was confusing to replace. Within two weeks I got the switch & replaced it myself with a video that I got from the supplier.
