upper left hand corner grain really nasty 2 small spots. Had to step back from it a time or 2

Here is the top for cabinet. I work slow. Going to use Sherwin Williams Poly for a top coat. There are 3 coats of lacquer BLO mix on it now.

5 hours later. retuned hand plane and a card scraper. Thx for the comments to refocus my efforts.

just to pat myself on the back each frame side panel was cut in half, re-swan, book matched and glued back together. My band saw only allows 5.5 inches for re-saw :{. I really like how they came out. The short one is made up of 3 pieces of scrap.

I know I was looking for a different easier path, Shaney you are correct. The grain is changing directions frequently, is planning at an angle the solution or just localized passes with the hand plane staying with the grain ?

Making a cabinet with frame panel construction out of hickory. I have some tear out on the panels, but the thickness of the panels has a nice fit to the frames. Can I seal coat with shellac to limit finish penetration at the tear or bite the bullet and spend more time on the panels.

We did the 3 year plan in 2 months and also better than it was. We were lucky we stayed at home whole time. glad all ok.

Brendon now that you have had time to use bench a little, any regrets on using ash? The boards that I have used are really straight grained, which I figure would make a great bench. A local mill priced green 8/4 for 1.25/BF, and I have a place to let it dry so win/win. Your bench came out really nice grats.

I have been looking at the Roku for about a month now. All 4 networks have apps, one is 6/month, the others are free and sling would cover the rest. This has been the first trustworthy post I"ve read. Probably after Black Friday (hoping for a deal) I'm gonna get the Roku 4 which is now available.

Love to have choices. Think I'm going to stick with Brusso on this one. Especially since I THINK I have wife's approval to get the medium router plane from Lee Valley.

Brendon I agree with every thing you said, there is always a Brusso (fill in name brand) wanna be out there with similar quality and little bit cheaper. That seems not to be the case with hinges it either cheap or Brusso, so Brusso it is. Thanks for the input
