  1. Hey Bob I grew up in Markdale where my parents still live. I'm now in Ottawa. One of the local places to me is KJP http://www.kjpselecthardwoods.com/ and I believe they ship. Ken.
  2. Vic. Having talked to Robin Lee a few times and knowing a few people that work in different areas of Lee Valley, defiantly give them a call/send them a note. As Robin has said more than once “our employs are Lee Valley”. He strongly believes in the value of feed back weather on there products or customer experience. As Canadian Bear said depending on how bad the experience was, you might or might not want to mention her name but letting them know your experience good or bad is what they want and need to hear.
  3. Hey Derek. I would highly recommend getting a subscription to the guild. As Marc said he just covered a chest of drawers in detail in a series of videos. Plus you then get access to all the other great guild stuff.
  4. Let's see some photo's. Hey any time you need help with something give me a shout.
  5. I was having a conversation the other day with someone (a non woodworker) on the topic of woodworking, hand crafted hand made pieces rather than mass produced ones. The term “Studio Furniture” came up and I had a hard time giving a definition of what Studio Furniture is. What is your take on the term? If I make it in my “Studio” (or as I call it my shop) is that Studio Furniture? What qualifies table X a studio piece and table Y just a coffee table? Wood selection, design, construction, finish, price? Or just because I say it is a piece of Studio Furniture. What's you thought?
  6. Thanks madmungo, no actually the top has three coats of poly and the rest of the table has shellac. The reason for this is I wanted the protection of the poly for the top but I really like using shellac and the way it feels.

Thanks Marc, once again you inspired me.
  8. Thanks Tim. On this one and the other one I used curley maple. The curl didn't show up as much as I was hoping it would.

  10. Thanks for the nice comments Samantha. The inspiration actually came from Marc (Thanks Marc). He did a 6 part video series http://thewoodwhisperer.com/episode-34-end-table-pt-1/ where he showes the designing and making of his end table. I just took that idea and put my own twist on it.
