  1. I didn't mean to start a flame war over Festool. I apologize if I offended anyone. I'll take a look at Amazon UK and see if the price is attractive.
  2. I stopped by last weekend to by a Laguna bandsaw. The people that work there couldn't been any nicer. Go there if you can.
  3. With the dollar doing so well should we expect Festool prices to go down? I would imagine there is a lot of inventory in the US that will have to burn off before we see lower prices. What does everyone think? Is it possible to buy direct from Germany or Europe ?
  4. Just to let you all know that there is a woodworking club that meets in the Peoria area. The club meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:30pm. The meeting takes place at The Woodworkers Shop in Pekin. First meeting is free. I hope to see you there.
  5. Hi cgwoodgoods This reply is way late (but never). There is a woodworking club in Peoria that meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Woodworkers Shop in Pekin. The meeting starts at 6:30pm and is very casual. You are welcome to attend (first meeting is free). You'll get to meet lots of nice and experienced woodworkers there. Hopefully we see you there.
  6. I just got my SawStop professional 3hp 52" after narrowing the selection down to it and PM2000. Tried getting a used saw for 2 years but saws were selling super fast on CL. I had a buddy help me bring the saw home and unpack. I was super impressed with the packaging. It is well thought and allowed us to put the mobile base and stand up the saw with ease. The instructions are awesome and they nice enough to include metric Allen wrenches (I didn't have any). Used the saw a little bit and love it, feeling stupid for not getting it sooner. Then I started assembling my PM1300 dust collector. I paid good money for it but after putting the SS together the powermatic DC just sucked. They put all the bolts, nuts, washers etc in one bag! I had to sort everything before I can start. A blister pack would've been much better (cheap put-together Walmart furniture comes with blister packs). Assembly wasn't bad and I like the tool. Ironically the assembly required a 5mm Allen wrench, I ended up using the one that came with the sawstop since I didn't have any. Overall I'm very happy with the combo. Also a friend of mine wants to come over and bring some hot dogs to test the brake system, I won't let him mess with my precious
  7. I saw this on YouTube : http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=v3Ad6tBdLbM&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dv3Ad6tBdLbM Apologize if this was posted on the forum. This reminds me of Kramer and his meat slicer "I slice meat so thin I can't see it"
  8. Good morning Marc, Have you considered selling your DVDs as video downloads in iTunes?
  9. When I discovered TWW podcast last year I went crazy because I was watching the podcast in random order and Marc was in a different shop every time. Good luck Marc with the move.
  10. I got a DeWalt D55168 (1.6 HP Continuous, 200 PSI, 15 Gallon Workshop Compressor) after doing lots of research. I was going to get one with smaller tank but you can only run nailers on them. Anyway, all the pancake compressors usually fail quickly (disposable). I'm happy with the DeWalt and I've been using it at least once a week since I got it back in April.
  11. I just got back from traveling and found the bit waiting for me at the door. The bit feels solid and looks good. I didn't try it yet. After looking at I realized that since there is a bearing at the bottom of the bit I can only use it as a flush trim bit and can't use it to plow dados for example using a jig. It looks like I need to get a pattern bit after all. I plan on keeping this bit however because it came with different bearings that let me trim 1/16", 1/8" or 3/16" from an edge which is handy in some cases. I hope this helps!
  12. Thanks all for the reply,, I'll check out Freud as well. I've been bitten a lot by 2-in-1 (or more in 1) junk that I'm skeptic. This bit makes sense to me,,, I'll come back and let everyone know what I find.
  13. I'm looking for a flush trim bit and found this combo bit, anyone has experience with similar bits? I'm not usually a big fan of "combo" stuff and prefer uni-taskers but since I don't have a pattern bit I thought this make sense: http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/smarthtml/pages/bt_flush.html I'm a hobbyist at the moment and starting to get back in to woodworking thanks to TWW! Thanks!
