    New Table Saw

Now you understand my frustration as well.

Yea, I did that for the saw but, not about the review..

I do agree with you Coop.. However, PM is replacing the saw which is a good thing. At least they're making an effort. ACME on the other hand is censoring the review thereby not letting potential buyers see an accurate review of the product they received. How likely are you to trust a review from them in the future? Are they the only ones that do this? Is there any recourse?

This is their response.. Here is my actual review as submitted.
  5. Can't say that I've seen it.. Reason for DTs (other than it looks better) is so that you don't need nails right?

Interesting.. ACME pulled the review down.. I guess they don't like negative reviews.
  7. I rarely deal with the shims. I find it easer to mill my lumber to fit the dado size. For rabbets, I go oversize and bury in a sacrificial fence. I"m not sure that there's any good adjustable width stacks out there that don't rely on shims.

When they shipped off the work to Taiwan, the quality control really went in the toilet for all these machines. It's obvious they did this to cut labor costs but, is that to keep our cost down or improve their profits? I don't honestly know but, when in doubt, I usually follow the money.
  10. Interesting read, thanks! @Chestnut, you could send those knobs to me..
  11. I haven't had any rust issues on the plates through 3 shops so, you're probably overkill there as I never treated mine with anything. Nothing wrong with what you did though. I am curious about the knobs.. I've ordered a few BC leg vise set ups and haven't seen these.. What the hell are they?

I have no faith in Powermatic (or Jet or their other brands) and won't buy anything from them in the future. I am however, going to ride this saw out for the duration of the warranty period before thinking about moving on. I honestly reviewed (negatively) this one at a bit short of a year. I won't be surprised if the next one has a similar review at about the same time but, will offer that review at that time. As much as I've (deservedly) bashed this saw, when it's functioning correctly, the saw is an absolute pleasure to use. I really do believe the issues are a result of PMs move to Taiwan!

I'm pretty sure you're correct but, I can wait and see what the new machine shows up with.. There's certainly no rush for the cord.. I have it either way..

The repair guy will be here when we open up the new one as he's doing the install and set up. He'll package the old one but, it will be a freight company that picks it up I'm sure. If he wants to take the lemon, I'll certainly help him load it! The Lemon has had all the decent parts pulled off ready for it to go back to PM.. I haven't removed the power cord yet as I don't recall if I only needed the plug or the entire cord...lol

All the parts pulled off the lemon in prep for return.. Seems like a lot of work to get your blade sharpened
  16. I've had both.. Pros and cons to both! Pure metal building's biggest con IMO is insulating it and regulating the temperature inside. It's biggest pro is it's so cheap to build. If I were building another today, I'd do like the one I had in WA and sheet the outside with OSB, wrap, and then add the metal. This extra layer really made the insulating and heating portion a lot easier! Stick built buildings like my current one are great! Easy to insulate and heat for sure! Biggest downside is the cost. My current shop was more than 10 times the cost to build and is only about 10' longer than the old shop.
  17. The guy that bought my old jointer came from Spokane but, I don't think he's a member here. Although I'm in Montana, I'm only about 4.5 hours from you.

I am assuming that this new saw WILL give me crap a year down the road as I really don't have any faith in the saw or the brand. It's possible they send another new saw. It's also possible that they refund. Time will tell. Regardless, by that time, I'll have (I hope) a larger following on YT and IG which means a larger base to see all the negative reviews and posts. Ultimately, it was that pressure that finally got them and ACME to step up on this saw.

He's sponsored by them and I have left his name out of everything deliberately. I've publicly bashed PM pretty hard and I don't want to create any issues for Marc. I certainly wouldn't ask him to use his connections to help me with a product that's under warranty. Yes, it's been a crappy ride. But, on the bright side there's now a lot more information out there for others to read before making their buying decisions.

There's 0 chance that I'll buy another PM product and I made that pretty clear. I will leave my negative reviews posted and will not pull them down. People need to be warned to not spend their money on this saw!
