  1. sounds a little weird saying it out loud doesn't it?
  2. I'm not sure what it is. I have watched it probably 20-30 times and I was there for the original!!!!
  3. I bought an old hamilton drafting table that has a stack of drawers. As most drafting tables are it is more standing height than a regular table. I am planing on putting a new top and vice on it to use it as a Joining/carving bench and use my current bench just for planing. I can also use all of those drawers to store my chisels!!
  4. I hesitated posting this here because the last time i posted a video from my youtube chanel I didn't exactly get a warm welcome. That being said, this doesn't happen very often and it is too good of a feeling not to share! I am currently working on a project that has really pushed me. I am cuttting all of the joinery by hand and the dovetails are at 86/94 degree bevels instead of 90. This particular joint was the 5th of 6 and while starting to test fit it, I realized it was going to go together without modifying it. As far as woodworking goes it is about the best feeling in the world!! https://youtu.be/H-5m5G0rwoc
  5. correct, only it was 32.99 in store and i used a 20% coupon so I got it for under $30!!! WORTH EVERY PENNY!!! Thanks, allthough I have put a lot of the miles on the bench, it was well "loved" before I got it. I bought it used on craigslist just over 10 years ago and it is one of my favoriter purchases ever!!
  6. I am currently building a media cabinet that has a lot of hand cut dovetails. While i was paring some of the sides I noticed I could see the knife line, but i couldn't see the edge of the chisel. I was really having to feel around to get the edge of the chisel in the knife line. While i was at Harbor Freight I broke down and bought this light. It is a total GAME CHANGER. I really would recomend it to anyone. It comes witha clamp for table tops up to 2" or so thick, I drilled a hole in my bench top since it is thicker. I wish I would have bought this years ago!!!
  7. I think it is easier than through dovetails. really as long as you saw your pins and tail to match, its hard to mess up the miter if you make a guide block and have sharp chisels.
  8. Thanks for the compliment. I had never seen anyone else do it, when I googled it i found a few pictures but couldn't find any videos. I really like the joint for certain applications.
  9. I guess I am not sure what you would want me to do. Like most youtubers, this is not my job. I personally have a great job and have no desire to ever be a full time maker. I dont make any measurable amount of money from youtube, as in less than $1.00 per 1000 views, so it is obviously not about the money. At the end of the day, I am taking a lot of time to try to help the community grow and learn. I don't know how to give you a chance to see what I have made other than to drop it on forums such as this. What is the chance that anyone is going to search for "half mitered dovetails"? They probably don't even know they exist. Now, atleast they get a chance to see them and have it in there arsenal for future projects. Also, because I am spending a large amount of time in the shop, videoing and editing videos I don't have as much time to spend on forums as I did years ago. For years, i was a taker from Forums, soaking up every bit of info I could find. I am trying to be a giver now and help the community. I honestly would like any sugestions (as long as they are sincere). I am trying my best to give back to the community and whould like to know what everyone would prefer. Thanks Chet!
  10. I definately plan to and honestly, I thought by posting helpful things like a tutorial is participating. Isn't that what forums are all about, helping each other out, sharing knowledge and showing off our projects? I'm just a guy who loves to woodwork as a hobby and am trying my best to give back to the community that has given so much to me over the years. Almost everything I have learned about fine woodworking has been through forums and youtube.
