  1. I am building a pair of saw horses going by these plans. http://www.woodmagazine.com/file/13246/download?token=wNXfaCEO the board that goes diagonal across the saw horse has an angle cut so it fits flush. How would I determine the angle?
  2. So I acquired a few tools this week. Circular saw, drill, a couple hammers, some clamps. I have access to a small planer, table saw, and a router. But does anyone have any plans for some projects that I can do that will help teach me the basics? Just something that I can build to get some hands on work?
  3. So I am just starting out and I found a guy selling solid oak barn wood. Some are 4/4 and some are 8/4, 6" to 20" wide and he has some 5' and some 10'. He is asking $3 per BF. I would probably just use it to practice with but i don't know if it is worth the price. There are pictures.
  4. I am located in Southeast Michigan.
  5. What is the best type of wood to work with? I know it's a broad question but I'm new in all this and I'm scrolling through the forums and I just see all different types of wood being talked about. Also where do you guys purchase different types of wood?
  6. I have a couple hundred a month to go towards this. I'd prefer power tools but I wouldn't be against using hand tools.
  7. I am more interested in building things like furniture or stuff for the house. I have some experience. But most of it is from building bird houses or small things like that. I've worked on several buildings with my father. Houses, car ports, gazebos, etc. my girlfriend and I just got our own place and I have a garage and zero hobbies (besides working on my old truck). And I thought maybe I could build us some nice stuff for the house. Tables, chairs, maybe a book shelf. And see where it goes from there.
  8. I have been wanting to start woodworking for a couple years now and I just can't figure out where to begin. What tools would I need to get started? Where is the best places to buy materials? I live in Michigan. I just would like to have a hobby that I can work towards perfecting and possibly end up making a business out of it.
