  1. Thanks for the warm welcomes! Guess I need to try to get on here more often. I finished the bookcase and built an entry way table since I last posted. Currently, I am I. The process of trying to clean out the garage to turn it into a proper shop. Got a new Delta table saw for Christmas and have plans to start building a miter saw station. Here are a couple of pics of the bookcase and table.
  2. Does anyone have any experience with repairing MDF boards? We recently just moved into our new house and when moving all of the furniture into the house from the storage unit, I noticed that the movers broke my 4 year old’s Lightening McQueen bed side. The pretty much snapped it in half. I know that he will need a new bed at some point, but I can’t really afford a new one right now and he really likes his bed. I’m just trying to figure out if there is a way to glue MDF pieces back together in a way to make it structurally safe for him to sleep in. I was thinking that I could use wood glue and some screws and that should work. Another thought was to buy some plywood and rebuild the broken side, but the. The paint and design probably won’t match. I’ll post a pic of the piece that has been broken off. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I recently “retired” from the military (Air Force) after 20 years and 2 days. I was a crew chief on KC-135R tankers and B-1B bombers. I now work as a contractor (aircraft mechanic) at F-15 depot maintenance supporting the war fighter. Hope to get a civil service position in the near future.
  4. I’m currently looking for a mill that I can purchase lumber at. Might just have to make a trip up north of the price per board foot is right.
  5. Thanks all for the warm welcome! At this moment my projects are on hold since we just moved into our new home. I have been working on a bookcase that is 72” tall, 50” wide and 12” deep ( my wife has a lot of books). I used poplar for it and plan to stain a dark mahogany color. It will have one fixed shelf and four floating shelves. I’ll post a picture of it once I get internet hooked up in the new house.
  6. Hello everyone! I just recently retired from the Air Force and moved back to my wife’s home town, Perry GA. I work as an aircraft mechanic on Robins AFB now; but wood working is a hobby of mine. I enjoy all aspects of woodworking, but mainly build furniture that is needed in my home. I also like to turn small projects on my mini lathe and build wooden ship models.
