  1. Don’t handhold Anything while trying to bore with that. Ross, even with a brace, the lead screw needs to match the hardness of the material. Softwoods and hardwoods often require a different lead screw taper.
  2. Wider is a little tougher to push at times, but only marginally when sharp. PS, my favorite for smoothing tends toward 5 1/2. Totally personal preference there.

House Martins are European birds with white chin and breast. Pictured above, with red in that area, are Barn Swallows.
  4. I am on the Toll Rd in IN. I would get on to a service station to say hi in person if schedule allowed.
  5. Which way around the lake? Chicago or Makinac?
  6. Within 40 miles of me are well over a thousand gas stations. I think it is just that simple.
  7. The angle of the cover would make me echo unscrewing the black lever.

Sometimes my career and hobby collide.
  9. This guy modified some old beast to accept a jet mortiser. Not sure that is what you are after, but your question brought it to mind.
  10. I prefer drilling the mortar and using nylon inserts with standard stainless screws. Just my preferred method.
  11. Flow would be measured in a cfm measure at the inflow gate. As the filter loads, it clogs to such a place that not enough air will move to clear fines. You can get air flow meters you can hold in the inflow at your tools. Not sure the calculations each might require.
  12. Typical wisdom is that modern filters fail from loading more frequently than from anything else. This approach means you need to figure a flow rate at which you fail the filter.
  13. I was shocked at how cheaply the local bike shop would repair my wife’s bike. Their money must be made through sales.
  14. I think for the basis of the myth he explained at the end, we often suggest a half lap or similar to increase glue area. I don’t think it is unwarranted, because there is a factor he did not include. What happens over time with humidity releasing behind that end grain glue? Just a thought, not an expert argument.
  15. He will need a picture Ken.

I read it as running air lines through the conduit, not using the conduit for pressure.
  17. This is common enough that many hand dovetail aficionados leave the carcass a little wild and plane things true with a hand plane. You could get by with sand paper on a long block maybe, if hand planing is not to your liking. That said, all boards must be perfectly square and true, and must be held squarely in the jig…so start by verifying that.
  18. Eric has not been around awhile now. That said, anything that forces haunches and shoulders to register tightly resists racking forces much better.
  19. Two suggestions and then the truism that guides them. 1) Read the manufacturers suggestions. 2) Test in an area that is likely to not be seen. I suggest this path because “paint” and “poly” are not specific enough to make a certain recommendation. What you are asking about Can be done, but is not always a thing the Should be done. e.g. Oil over latex is never wise. Never put a hard film finish over a flexible one. That could and often does lead to cracks.
  20. Was last here in June of this year. Try a PM.

I just rode in a friend’s Glad on off-road 35s, and could not believe the serious level of detail to sound suppression Jeep must have.
  22. This cannot be answered without a manufacturer and model number.
  23. I don’t buy paper, but occasionally buy the digital archive of the paper copies of FWW.

Coming up on 24 hours without power, expecting 24 more. Round after round of storms are coming through and not giving crews enough time to resolve issues from the earlier storms before new issues are born.
