weithman5
Steve, I have noticed you have referenced a sliding table for your saw. Do you have a commercial sliding table saw or did you make your own sliding extension table? I have been thinking of building one so I am a bit curious
wdwerker
Excalibur sold by General . Mine is quite old now but still works well. All the slight drawbacks mine has got worked out of the newest version. I lusted after one but it's around $2500. 61" crosscut capacity Mine was $1500 , 20 years ago !
Eric.
I wish they made one the size of a drywall square. I would buy that. I already have a 24" T-square...can't justify the cost for another 8". Still tempting, though.
Tom Cancelleri
Just pulled the trigger on the 18x26. Should go well with my not yet purchased tracksaw. Still, 200 bucks for a square is a lot.
Tom Cancelleri
Picked up a woodpeckers 36"center scale straight edge today to go with it.
bgreenb
Ugggghhh just pulled the trigger on a 26" square against my better judgment...ordered a drum sander so I figured what's another $150 right? Plus it doesn't bill until it ships, which isn't until May...by then I will have forgotten...yeah, that's it....
wouldwurker
Join the club. I could have a new obsessively insane hobby by May...like scrapbooking or some crap!
AstroDave
Still obsessive here and picking up the 26" square... Also I could have sworn I bought the Domino offset One time Tool but maybe I never actually pressed "buy" after all
wdwerker
Nah, buy the Domiplate ! And when that onetime tool does ship and bill it will always catch you off guard ! Been there, done that, got the over draft notice< Grin>
AstroDave
Hmmm I just checked the Domiplate...definitely less expensive. Now I hope I didn't click "buy". They also had an imperial gauge...very cool.
TimberMagic
I ordered the 26" version as soon as I received the email. I've been on their waiting/notification list awaiting the re-release for quite awhile. I've got their rules in 3 lengths (two Imperial and one metric) and love them. I first got them for setting my Seneca Parallel Guides for the Festool track saw guide rails, but use them often as a regular ruler. I also have the precision triangle set. And the corner clamping blocks.... And I have the stainless Paolini pocket rule also on order. I have no will power to reject the temptation to order when it comes to Woodpeckers stuff .. Brendon_t
Although I do not mind spending good money on quality items, And believe that marking/measuring items should be premium. .. $200 for a square is quite a leap for me. . Brendon, I thought the same thing. It was so hard to pull the trigger on it. Then I thought about it and realized as I'm gonna be breaking down several dozen of sheets of plywood within the next year using a tracksaw, getting a good quality square would be an invaluable investment for layout and setting up the track square before clamping down. Thinking of it that way made pulling the trigger easier. Plus you'll have it forever. It's not something you'll really every upgrade, square doesn't really have much of an upgrade path. Brendon_t
All valid points and it sounds like it definitely would have a place in your work flow. I work with sheet goods so rarely, I can't convince myself of the real value
wouldwurker
Sounds like it's time to start some case work then
neoOberon
I have to ask...wouldn't Woodpeckers T-square be better at sheet good layout than a square? I ask because I'm new...
Tom Cancelleri
I have to ask...wouldn't Woodpeckers T-square be better at sheet good layout than a square? I ask because I'm new... For layout and lines a T-Square would be good. However I think you'd get more utility out of the framing square. Check cases for square, layout lines, tool alignment
wdwerker
A Tee square has a shorter head. A framing square registers off of a longer surface and can check inside and outside corners . I use mine to check cuts coming off my miter saw and sliding cross cut table. bgreenb
So these things were supposed to ship in May. Anyone got theirs yet? I sent them email on 5/13 asking when they would ship. The woman told me they would start shipping at the end of May and ship throughout the month of June. Now I just got an email saying they expect everything to ship by the end of July. Is this a typical experience for buying a one time tool? Very frustrating. This after I ordered something else from them (not a one time tool) in January that said "in stock" and received an email two weeks later saying it was backordered, and then continued receiving emails pushing back the shipping date until I finally canceled the order. Gotta tell ya, not that impressed with my experience with Woodpecker so far. This framing square better be out of this world. I expect it to cook me dinner and tuck me into bed at night.
Brendon_t
Unfortunately, I have ordered twice from them (Neither was a one time tool and both were "in stock") Both times, it took over two months to ship.
AstroDave
Waiting on mine as well...however my previous experience has been good...

I feel the same way. I have a Stanley steel framing square that is as square as I can measure it. I have some nice Starrett combination squares in a three sizes and other quality marking/measuring devices mostly because previous employers paid for them, but for a framing square I really don't think my work will be any more or less square with a carefully checked $10 square than with a $200 square. Besides, if a framing square is out of square it is not that hard to square one up.
Tom Cancelleri
I got that same email that they will all ship by July. I was hoping mine would get here before I started the base of the Roubo, as well as a vanity I'm going to be building. Woodpeckers makes great products, I love the stuff I have currently, however they may need to start under-promising and over-delivering instead of the other way around. In the email I got it said "Thank you for your patience with regards to the delivery of your One Time Tool purchase of the Woodpeckers Precision Framing Squares. You may have already received your shipment, and if not, you will soon! We expect that all shipments will leave our facility by the end of July. We sincerely apologize for the long delay. Thanks again."
bgreenb
Yes Tom, exactly. It's all about managing expectations. If they had said these would ship in July, I still would have purchased, and I'd be happily waiting right now. Instead I'm just annoyed and impatient.
wdwerker
I waited a year for them to offer it again, then waited about 6 months to receive it. Now it's part of my daily use tools, wouldn't want to be without it.
