Tony Wilkins
If I charged an hourly rate it would be $10,000. ...but who would pay for all that innefficiency? Maybe the federal government will buy it? Simple change the name from 'arts and crafts coffee table' to 'B2 information carriage system' and bob's your uncle.
Coop
Chrisphr, How's the table coming along?
chrisphr
LOL, it has been a while, thanks for asking! Nearly done with this bad boy, I was going to wait till done to post cause I am so close. All the woodworking is done, applied a coat of Danish oil. Once my available time and weather cooperate, I plan on spray laquer finish it. Here it is sitting on my dining room table, because that is the least likely place my kids won't damage it. I'll take some better pictures when complete, hopefully next few weeks...

I can see mine letting me put my projects on the dining table but I will show her your pic to see what kind of reaction I get

chrisphr
Boom! This thing is done. Woo hoo! It only took the better part of a year... Finish is three coats of laquer over Danish oil.
wouldwurker
Beautiful! Is this the one from FWW?
chrisphr
Beautiful! Is this the one from FWW? Yup, the very one. I was worried it might look bad in walnut instead of the more historically correct QSWO, but I think I am digging the walnut.
wouldwurker
I'll take walnut over oak any day Well done, man

wouldwurker
Wdwrker, curious what you use for this? Pencil? Sharpee? Under/over finish?
chrisphr
Thanks all, I had fun building it! Good call on the signing and date wdwerker. I was thinking maybe wood burner? Hopefully it won't burst into flames (maybe need to wait a couple more weeks to be sure the lacquer is cured!).
