21meyer
Hello All, I recently purchased a new Grizzly G0715P Hybrid Saw. So far, so good. I previously owned a Jet 10" Contractor Saw. It was a good saw for several years but now I would like to sell it. Any suggestions on where I should start at price wise. I have looked at several CL ads but it seems like the pricing, for a good contractor saw, is all over the map. It has quite a few 'homemade' extras so I know it will take the right buyer. I am attaching some pictures and details about the saw below. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Cody. 10" Jet Contractor Table Saw (JWTS 10CW2 LFR) Includes - Cast Iron Extension Wings - Solid Wood Custom Built Stand - Two Drawers and Cabinet - 4" Dust Port (Excellent Dust Collection) - Vega 50" Micro Adjust Fence - Router Wing With Hardwire On/Off (Router Not Included) - Router Fence - Upgraded Belt - Outfeed Table - Leveling Casters - Crosscut Sled - Tenon Jig - Inserts (Zero Clearance, 45 Degrees, 22.5 Degrees, Dado) - Power Strip
mikem
What I look for both when buying and selling used tools is what they are selling for currently. The rule of thumb I use for stuff machines less than 10 years old is 50% of what they go for new currently, which isn't necessarily 50% of what you paid for it. There are definitely exceptions to this rule, especially for higher end brands. The shop made add-ons typically do not add much value when selling machines used. wdwerker
Mike has it right . Ridgid ,Ryobi and similar hobby machines maybe 60% of new. Commercial, industrial machines might bring 40% if they are in great condition. Other than the fence upgrade the accessories just sweeten the deal. blakjak220
I couldn't quickly find a retail price for this saw through Google searching so keep in mind I have no idea what you may have paid... so I'll just throw a range out there based on what I've seen for similar brands/saws lately having just bought a hybrid saw I think I'm pretty up on the market... although that may be regional. I'd probably start in the $400-$600 range. Now obviously that's a large range but I think narrowing it down is dependent on overall condition, your particular market (are there a lot of woodworker in the area, or like the town I live in the market is extremely small) and how complete the saw is in terms of accessories, owner's manual, etc. It looks like it's in good condition and has quite a few added parts and accessories so you may wanna start at the higher end of what you think it might be worth. I've bought and sold a ton of tools, cars and everything in between and I usually browse CL, check Ebay sold listings and compare that to new retail and come up with a price that way... seems to work pretty well. Good Luck with the sale.
Byrdie
My answer may be influenced by the market I'm in. It's a sweet saw and you've done many nice things with it but, even with all the extras and upgrades, if I were looking to buy I wouldn't be offering more that $200 - $250 for it. Again that's based on my experiences in this market. On the other hand, in this market someone would probably come along and undercut me by offering $275. I paid $600 new for a contractor saw that I'm very happy with and the would inform my decision.
21meyer
Hey guys, Thanks for the input. Just thought I would do a follow up in case anybody else was in my shoes with a similar saw. As you guys previously stated, I think it depends on your area and also just the randomness of who might be looking to purchase at that particular time. I had the saw listed on the Omaha CL for about a week with a decent amount of inquiries. It ended up selling for $525. Thanks.
