Glen Bridges
My mother asked me to build her a bird house. The house is already painted. I am near the end of this project and I have decided to add some trim to add some depth. Can I still use water proof wood glue? Will it bond to the paint, or should I use hot glue? This bird house is obviously going to be outside , so what method should I use to attach the trim to the house. I want it to last.
Eric.
Wood glue probably won't bond. Use epoxy. OR It's a bird house...how about a few brads?
woodbutcher74
Gorilla Glue? Never tried it, they claim it bonds to any surface and it's weather proof.
..Kev
Being a bird house, I'm with Eric and would just shoot brads.. Just make sure you put on your flannel first
Glen Bridges
The trim I'm using is thin. I tried using brads it split the wood
Coop
Then epoxy it is.
wdwerker
Go down to Harbor Freight and get one of their $25 micro pin guns . 23 gauge micro pins are so thin they rarely split anything. It's one of those gems they sell, I have several of them. As to the glue my gut feeling is lightly sand the areas getting trim and use TB III as well as the pins.
