Larvae in my Madrone!

Recommended Posts

Uh... I was scroll sawing a piece of Madrone (that I purchased probably about a month ago) and a ran into a perfectly round 1/4" hole that was well packed with sawdust... after cutting about 8" into the wood a live larvae popped out!

Turns out, that the hole was about 10" deep about 1/2" in from the edge starting at the end.

I looked for further holes, but didn't see any.

How worried should I be for the rest of my wood?

Bill

Is the madrone green, kiln dried or air dried?  If it is kiln dried something went wrong in the drying process.
