I think the bowl would be a lot more pleasing to the eye without the cnc embellishments.  Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

And since when do we consider turners woodworkers anyways...  :P

JK turners, y'all are nuts sticking metal objects into spinning pieces of wood.

Why is it any different than sticking wood in spinning metal?

I dunno, something about when a spinning 10lbs chunk of wood catches on a gouge and goes flying across the shop is just a bit unnerving.  For now, I'll leave the bowls to others.  I suppose one like this that is mostly edge grain being cut would be a lot easier than a chunk of firewood where you have lots of end grain to contend with.  Turning handles and such isn't so bad, but bowls scare me a bit.  Just inexperience though.

Everything about that is hand crafted. From the segmented bowl to his jigs, his bowl clamping system, his adjustable cnc table. Even the video itself! Frank Howarth is a brilliant craftsman.

This debate is more tired than Paul Sellers after hand planing a piece of pine for 7 hours.
