Popular Post Unknown craftsman 265
Here's a box i made from the Figured Oak i posted in the wood section. I thought it came out nice. Kinda scary looking just in time for Halloween. It measures 11w x 7d x 4 tall. Working the wood was very nice. Grain direction was all over the place. So i did a lot of scraping and that went very well. I didn't have enough for a solid lid so i made it in three sections. Each one is like a little piece of natures art. The finish is Blonde shellac and polished with pure lite button lac. Now its super shiny. Aj

JosephThomas 870
Very nice, I especially like the way the pins are cut in half where the top meets the box.

Unknown craftsman 265
Hey Mr Cooper,I used a gouge then a file. Then a goose neck scraper. And finally sandpaper wrapped around the file. The inside parts of the lid were finished before I glued it up.The outside was shaped later. Thanks to everyone for your nice comments dispite my poor photography. RichardA 4947
Brusso? Well done, I haven't seen curly white oak very often, you did very well I love how the curl hides the dovetails.
xxdabroxx 288
As a person who generally only considers oak for firewood, that is some amazing looking oak. Great job! Can you post a picture of the top side of the lid? How did you join the lid panels together?
