Books/resources on furniture styles?

Recommended Posts

So I'm looking to educate my wife (and of course myself) on the many different types of furniture styles out there. The vernacular I use like Shaker, Mission, Arts and Crafts, etc. means nothing to her, yet! What books or resources are out there that give a good overview on this? I'd love to find something she loves that I can use to inspire future pieces for the house to have some consistency in our furniture. Thanks all. -Hunter

I found this to be informative and useful. It includes expanded sketches of how various furniture pieces (not just cabinets)are constructed.  Illustrated Cabinet Making by Bill Hilton, American Woodworker, Pub by Fox Chapel Press.
