Mahogany sword

Awesome, Shane! Be sure to let him know how great all your woodtalk buddies think his sword is! The sword may last for years, but the memory you guys just made will be with you both forever.

Really cool project and great looking family! Once he gets this prototype finished, I'm with your son on the next one being ebony!

Awesome!!! My son is 4 and loves coming out to the shop with Daddy. He wants to build himself a bedside table.

Excellent! Good on you buddy! I wish my kids were still young and living at home so I could share my love for woodworking with them. Maybe when my grandson gets older.........

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I showed this to my son this morning and he was so excited to see that people responded. It blew his mind.

What's blowing my mind is the beautifully precise results he's getting with that spoke shave. He must have inherited some of that ShaneyMack voodoo woodshop wizardry and hand/eye coordination.

You may have to register that sword with the Mounties or the Gendarme or whatever you guys call them;), it's looking like it will turn out to be an fearsome weapon.

Haha thanks, Dave! I definitely gave a few swipes with the spokeshave to clean up his lines at the end of his work session.

We showed the sword to my wife and she was like, "uh, cool but this is really dangerous. You're going to need to keep this away from your brother and sisters". I will definitely round over the tip and the edges before he starts playing with it!
