I am a master of using the kitchen chairs as sawhorses, much to my wife's displeasure. On page 8 of Toshio Odate's book "Japanese Woodworking Tools" is a design for something that'll go nicely under the bed...

I picked up an offcut of a laminated Fir table top, 40mm thick (and cupped like a saucer).

The tools used:

The result of a full day's work (well it was cold and rainy out):

My #4 in front to show scale, and the underside:

Fortunately the photographs hide the mess I made of most of the joints. Gifted with 20/20 hindsight, there are quite a few things I would do differently, but it was fun, and it's not going on the mantelpiece :D

Cute, I might have to use those for my canoe.

Send me the canoe and I'll check it out ;).

...

How are the sleds? Did you get a chance to try them out?

All received enthusiastically around Christmas, with comments like "you made that?", which I took as a compliment . Still waiting for the first reviews from the younger critics. Perhaps 'Uncle John' will have to take them himself...

Ciao Johnny. I said this before and will keep saying this. The Europeans are masters of using cubic space and maximizing our rooms.

This is fantastic work.
