Thanks for all the comments!  Yep, the top is curly cherry, and I just love the grain.  The original slab was about It's about 6 1/2 feet long and 20ish inches wide.  I didn't need a really long skinny table though, and cutting it in half helped make it a size that was more practical.

I'm a member of the Woodworkers Club of Rockville, so essentially a Maker's space, but it's 100% woodworking and there's a ton of expertise there between the staff and the other members.  I never noticed the wall art, but that's in the woodcraft store that's attached to the shop.  We get to use just about everything festool makes which has been a huge benefit.
