Popular Post Al Capwn
So first a quick shout-out to @davewyo who was so generous to send me a Doug Stowe book. For those who don't know, or could have guessed, I am a computer nerd and one my hobbies is Dungeons and Dragons. I decided that I would make a dicebox for the game, but I noticed a neat idea online about combining it into a book holder + clipboard. So I set about using some scrap cherry I had lying about. The miters are...well, to be honest they are garbage, but that is mostly my fault for using a cheap Ryobi miter saw and not taking time to calibrate it well. Live and learn. I added a chamfer to the edges of the box top and bottom with a block plane to give it a bit of added sense dimension. One of the (many) projects ahead is to build a dedicated miter sled and shooting board. Box is made of solid Cherry, bottom is some plywood covered with felt, and I keyed the corners with some Maple. Finished with 3 coats of ARS Satin. Planning on making a dedicated inset box to keep the book from sliding up and down. Just wanted to post to say thanks and let people know that I am still around - Happy Easter all!

davewyo
Thanks for the shout out, Al Cap. I'm super glad to help with some inspiration or whatever. It's what this group is all about. Oh, nice box too! Dungeons and Dragons still exists?
Coop
Doug Stowe's books are great. I wanted to do something with wood other than structural stuff and decided to start off small with boxes. Now, 4 years later, I can't imagine how much his $20 book has ended up costing me Great looking first box man!
gee-dub
Great idea for the gamer. Keeps all your stuff squared away and looks darn good doing it.
