TerryMcK
You've maybe seen that strange violin shaped bass guitar that McCartney made famous? Well here is a video that shows the luthiers over at Hofner in Germany hand making them. Use of handtools, shapers, pin routers, band saws, presses and loads of jigs/fixtures combined with skill make for an interesting watch. The only thing that lets the video down is the cheesy music backing track.
lewisc
For such a precise instrument, it sure seems like they just slap them together. I guess that comes from such a high skill level and making them over and over again. Those exposed cutters give me shivers.
Eric.
You had me at Beatle. Yeah the soundtrack is awful, especially considering the subject matter. Pretty sure the last track was the worst Beatles cover I've ever heard. Cool video though. Think they've made a few of those? I guess Paul is basically royalty around that place. Talk about an endorsement...and for almost 55 years...
