Bontz half-blind tool

These things are cool.  I ordered this during the woodshow back in February.  They were in pre-production at the time so it took a while.  I custom ordered mine with a cocobolo handle so it took even longer. :)  Worth the wait.

He sent me a scribe too, just because.  Ron's a good dude.  Check out his offerings if you're in the mood for some boutique goodies.

Could you explain the function of the tool for the uninitiated? Is it for transferring your marks in the saw kerf sorta thing?

You put it in the kerf, and tap it to sever the wood fibers. tap tap tap...

Thanks Mel!

But I kind of cringe when I think about tapping the brass on that beauty of a tool. I imagine it gets pretty dinged up over time.

Or just grab a card scraper from the drawer that matches the kerf of your dovetail saw.

Where's the fun in that?

Seriously though, you better grab a block of scrap wood while you're at it...because you're gonna destroy anything you use to whack that card scraper with...and probably the card scraper, too.  I definitely wouldn't wanna use my favorite mallet.
