Popular Post TerryMcK
Here is a video from Bert van de Meij making a pair of archtop jazz guitars. It is a nicely shot video and there are lots of tricks and tips that Bert shows as he works through the build. I shape the back of my necks with a spokeshave but Bert uses violin making planes. I also like how a few bent nails can become the anchor points for elastic band clamping when securing the top and bottom plates to the body. I personally shall have to learn how to French polish. The finish Bert gets is awesome using shellac flakes and spirit. If you are inspired at all by this video it shows that anybody with patience, a small shop with handtools and moderate power tools can make a guitar of the high quality that Bert does. So get out there and make one.
lewisc
It never ceases to amaze me how much work and precision goes into these. I owned this archtop guitar for about 2 weeks. I bought it cheap, cleaned it up, took some photos and sold it for a lot more. It was one of the nicest guitars I've ever played. Should've kept it. Woodenskye
That was really cool, I'm not sure I would have the patience to drill 3600 holes, drill press or not.

Llama
This is the funny thing about youtube. You either get something great like this, or some guy making a guitar in his backyard with a chainsaw. There is no in-between.
