Shackett7021
Hahaha, I saw online this vise could be $700+
Tom King
Do all the functions work?
Shackett7021
This vise I never used. I don't know anyone who uses this so I'm not sure. But it's on my working bench right now. It came with the house I bought. An older couple lived here. If I was given instructions I could test everything out and let you know? wdwerker
Check very carefully for cracks ! They are prone to failure in several points, only the crack free ones bring top dollar.
Shackett7021
Ok let me look
Shackett7021
There are zero cracks.... this guy clearly used this vise because it's hooked on the working bench, and in a drawer was a bunch of metal pieces for furniture making.... it looks in great shape to me. Tom King
Google finds a lot, but I didn't find operating instructions. This page offers some useful information. If everything works, it does have some real value. http://19711007.blogspot.com/2015/10/emmert-pattern-maker-vice-repair-install.html Can you post a pic of the parts under the bench?
Shackett7021
Ok I'll attempt every function I can google on it. Do you know where I can go to sell it? Or who I can contact?... I'm in Depew, New York....
Tpt life
Maybe the marketplace portion of this site?
Tom King
You might be able to sell it right here. A pic of the swivel lock on the back would be good too.
Shackett7021
Thanks guys, tom I'm not sure what swivel lock you are speaking of do you mean any of these perhaps?
Eric.
I'd sell it on ebay. There are a couple completed listings for similar vises that sold for appx $350 plus another hundred for shipping. I'm no expert on these so I don't know if yours could fetch that much or not...but this forum is just a tiny speck of the market. You'll get maximum value on ebay even though it'll be a bit of a PITA to ship it. Ebay auction you get fair market value every time. For better or worse.
Coop
So after looking closer at it, I see that it's been painted and not the original japanning. I'll give you a hundred and pay the shipping.

I never noticed the difference between this and all the pictures I've seen online. How embarrassing!! Does that really change the price in this? Coop
No doubt, it's still a cool vise as a daily user. However, as Eric said, you may be able to getter better on eBay.
