Carl17
Hi Everyone I built a small router table with a 18 by 24 top and i did glue it down and then rout out the top for the insert to hold the router and also could see it while i work but when i tried to trim it out for the insert it did move the template a little and did mess up my top and was wondering if it matters if it isn't nice and tight on the top or should i redo the top ? i have not tried it yet and also was wondering if it will effect any router things like trimming or notches any help would be great Carl
Eric.
The lift plate needs to be perfectly flush with the table top but if it's not perfectly centered in the opening it's not a big deal...as long as you lock it down securely somehow so it doesn't shift during routing. You got any pics?
gee-dub
I botched a plate cutout one time and just filled the gap with a little bit of epoxy putty. Used a bit of wax paper so it didn’t stick to the plate. Having the plate flush and the bit perpendicular are your key concerns.
Ronn W
A ltilel gap or half round cutout along the edge of the router plate should not affect its usefulness.
