gee-dub
I saw it rain while it is 106 degrees outside. The 106 is normal for us but the humidity (that is, what we call humidity) and the sudden drop when it rains is not the norm for August in Earthquakeland

wtnhighlander
Checking out the dry fit of my "mystery" utility project. Any guesses? (please ignore all the background junk)
Coop
My first guess would be a cabinet that will have drawers on opposing sides but I don’t see any drawer supports. Are there more pieces to this puzzle that are yet to come? Are you like me and let the intake of your a/c hold the filter in place?
Tom King
Spent 13 hours in the ER with my Mom. She normally can't turn over in bed, but early this morning she heard the cat asking to go out (we don't have a cat), got to the foot of the bed past the railing on the hospital bed, and stood up, only she can't stand up. Something started working that hadn't been working. In a pile on the floor......long story shortened, she's going to be okay it seems, but they kept her in the hospital.

Coop
That would have been my 12th guess! And as you have described your shop as being relatively small, it has to be significant to take up so much space? Is it oriented in the final position?
BonPacific
First task today was doing an evaporust bath on my new old jointer table. Only gave it about 3 hours, but it worked a treat. No before shots but you can see the difference on the cutterhead. I may need to pull that out and also take off the fence to give them each a better treatment. While that was working it's magic I got my leg vise cut, fit, and installed. Lined the jaw with some old leather I had laying around. I'm using a simple 1/2” alignment pin/dowel and a wedge. I made the arm too long, but it's a simple matter to shorten down the line.

Popular Post Tom King
Thanks for the comments about my Mom. I thought something had started working more that it had before for her to be able to get out of bed. Her left leg is working more than it has since her stroke two years ago. She's pretty beat up from hitting the floor hard, but it looks like she should get over that. We have a monitor in her room so we can hear her when she talks, but we didn't hear anything that night. I'm not sure that she didn't get knocked out. In the ER, they were talking about sending her back home not too long after we got there, but I think they found out she had the best level of Medicare there is, so they ran every test they could think of. Xrays, CT scan, MRI, and she's had good attention from Physical Therapists today. Nothing was found broken, or injured from the fall except a pretty big gash on her left arm, and bumps and bruises. They think they can get her standing up on her own again. Before the fall, she couldn't even turn over in bed. They're going to keep her for a while. They all think a lot of her because she's such a character, and jokes with them all the time. I carried her glasses to her today, and stayed for a while. Pam and I almost don't know what to do without one of us being tied to the house. I cut grass this morning without a cellphone on a rack in front of my face, and we both could actually leave the house at the same time. We're going to our BIL and SIL's Airstream to eat our first meal out together in two years. Tomorrow, there is a Memorial service on our point for Pam's Niece that passed away not too long ago, so we've been working on that. There is one of those white tents set up, and they're expecting a lot of people. I quit working on the bathroom house until cooler weather, but they can use the rental house for that. As I left today, the nurse asked me what she should do with her dentures. Her mouth dropped open when I told her she didn't have any, but had all her teeth, and never even had a filling. I did tell her she would want to brush her teeth.

Popular Post Tom King
I had said a couple of nights ago that Pam and I were going to her Sister's Airstream for dinner, but I had sort of gotten distracted that day by spending 13 hours in the ER with my Mom. They were having a Memorial ceremony for our niece that had died some weeks back. I thought it was going to be a small thing. I didn't even know they were staying in our rental/guest house, as well as a crowd of family. The ceremony was yesterday. There were about 50 people there, and most went out in boats after the ceremony to cast the ashes. There was a rented tent set up, and enough food to feed a city. It was very nice, and everyone thanked us, and were very appreciative of having it at our place. I always thought all the pavement in front of that house was pretty ugly, but it turns out it's very practical. All the kids really enjoyed the dock and swimming area, so it was just good luck that the dock had been finished. Still a fight to get grass to grow down there. I never could get anyone to come screen my topsoil mountain, and a year wait to buy one, so I'm going to build one this Fall. Once I get it covered with nice grass, and get that bathroom house finished, I think we're going to have our hands full with weddings. I just look at it and see what needs to be done, but everyone loved it, and saw it different than I do.

Popular Post Tom King
All the retired people from the weekend are still here. We went to the hospital to visit my Mom, and when we came back to that house, they said the young ones hung around until the last possible minute to get home in time to go to work tomorrow. There is still a small crowd of people our age, and older there. They don't want to leave either. We had a really nice evening visiting on the porch, and just came home. After Sunset, there was a light rain with distant lightning all around us, and it was really pleasant on that porch. The Sun sets up the lake so you don't really see the Sun itself like you do in Winter, but it was still a good one.

BillyJack
I never work one project at a time. I got an itch to do another poker table. Here lately I have been going backwards working on old projects drawing dust. This one's been sitting for a few years.,
legenddc
Both kids had their first ever soccer games this weekend and they each scored a goal! Hoping that gives my daughter a bit more confidence. They had some friends over on Sunday so I was able to mock up doors for the TV stand I haven't touched in 6 months. I have some travel coming up and won't get to work on it until late October. Can't wait to get it done!

Popular Post drzaius
Just got back from a 4 day weekend to Whistler, BC. My daughter and a couple of friends were running a 3 day ultra event; first day was a 1700M vertical ascent race in just 5.7 KM, second was a 25 KM race, and the third day was a 55 KM race. Total vertical ascent was 6450M. What you see in the phot o is typical of the terrain, including the boulder field. The other pic is Sarah and one of her running buddies, Steve, just after finishing the 3rd race. I go to most of their events to volunteer while they race. So much fun it should be il.egal.
