Tmize
I've been looking at replacing my old set of mismatch set of auger bits for my brace. I can't decide which style to get. The one Irwin bit I have is a 1/2x16" it starts good but it so long it's hard tell from. The rest are no name or 50 to 60's craftsman set my granddad gave an they are abused but still cut after I filed them. So any recommendations or are they about the same to the average joe that uses on occasion for the perfect placed hole
wdwerker
Modern Irwin bits are most likely made in Asia. Jennings in Europe. Mine are an ancient set my grandfather had, no idea what brand. Sharp and clean is the most important thing.

wdwerker
The old Irwins are considered good bits.
