Popular Post Tom King Posted October 9, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted October 9, 2022 Finally got a chance to get into this thread. We built a fire pit down on our "beach" yesterday. With help from a very bright moon. I learned how to change the exposure on the iphone. These are multi second exposures. 10 Quote
wtnhighlander Posted October 9, 2022 Report Posted October 9, 2022 That makes for an awesome photo, Tom! Did you actually hand-hold the camera for a multiple-seconds exposure in the 'feet up' pic? Quote
Popular Post Tom King Posted October 9, 2022 Popular Post Report Posted October 9, 2022 Yes, handheld. I think it must have some sort of stabilization built in, maybe computerized, but don't know all the details. Those streams going up were just little specs of hot coal particles floating up. I had both elbows resting on the arms of the chair. Trying to catch the dim sunsets, this was a 4 second exposure, but I did rest it on the handrails of the porch. This was a pretty ordinary, everyday sunset last night. The color is still not quite as deep as it was, but I'm getting closer. It looks like 4 seconds is the longest exposure available, but even then it tries to "correct" the color. We're naming the rental place "Sunset Point". 5 Quote

Tom King Posted October 15, 2022 Report Posted October 15, 2022 I forgot that I took this picture until I saw it on my phone. This is the moon I had to work with, that illuminated my feet, and the lake. The air was so still, which is why the lake was like glass. It was so bright there were very distinct shadows cast. Jupiter is up from the Moon a little bit. A good night for a campfire is when the air is still. Smoke only goes straight up. 2 Quote

Popular Post treeslayer Posted June 22, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted June 22, 2023 Went for a early evening ride/drift on the Mississippi on a friend’s boat, this is the RR bridge open as a tow boat had just passed thru, motored upstream shut the motor off and had some snacks while we drifted then pulled in to the guest docks of a local riverside restaurant for a nice dinner 10 Quote

bug_hunter Posted July 9, 2023 Report Posted July 9, 2023 Wow, you guys have got a lot of "out of the shop" toys. I figured one could only afford one or the other. 1 Quote

Popular Post Tpt life Posted July 26, 2023 Popular Post Report Posted July 26, 2023 Sleeping Bear Dunes with my wife. Last gasp of sanity before school starts. That’s a few weeks off, but soccer starts Tuesday, and I coach. 8 Quote

Down here, with this heat, we’d have to have a 55 lb. block of dry ice in that ring to enjoy it. 1 2 Quote
wtnhighlander Posted July 26, 2023 Report Posted July 26, 2023 Looks like a relaxing place! I wish school was 'a few weeks off' here. Poor kids in this county have to go back next week! 1 Quote

Coop Posted September 19, 2023 Report Posted September 19, 2023 @wtnhighlander, is this east of Nashville? I’m making my 5th trip to the Nashville area in about 3 weeks, 3 by air and one driving with my next driving, and have never seen these sites. That’s amazing. 1 Quote

That is Pigeon Forge TN, just outside the Western edge of the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. 1 Quote
