Upward Swinging Cabinet Doors

Recommended Posts

Building an outdoor TV Cabinet for a customer.  The door is of substantial weight (25-30 lbs) and they want it to swing up when open.  The door needs to open past 90 degrees, probably closer to 110 or so.  Searching for the best type of hinges for this project. Any recommendations? Thanks!

If not considered, check out hinged pocket doors. It would be mounted on the sides instead of the top but the door(s) will be out of the way. You will need a cabinet a few inches wider to accommodate the hardware.

Going off of Steve's idea, you could make it like the doors on a Barrister's bookcase.  I don't think that even uses special hardware, just a pin and a slot.

Those barristers bookcase doors don't operate very smoothly. The ones that do have pantograph hardware so they don't jam up .
