It's easier to do it this way. l = (d - 4) × (d - 4) × (h / 16)

I don’t understand any of that, I was absent the day we had math

Dave don’t you think that’s alittle odd, buying a log scale on your Honeymoon? :D

That stick is just about as useless to me as a Penthouse magazine was years ago when I use to buy them. Well, maybe not a good comparison B)! We went into an old hardware store in Covington LA today that had anything and everything. I saw the stick and bought it to remember the good times I had in Tennessee!

I = Doyle Scale.  D is the width - 4 inches and h is the lenth.  Let's say d is 13-4=9. Same again 9x 9 = 81  length 10 feet divided by 16 = .625  so 9x9=81x.625 = 50.625 bdft

Rickey, have you put that tiger hard maple in the kiln yet? Excited to see how that comes out.

I'll work some overtime for the extra $ to get in on some of that action.

I might just have to drive down to Tennessee for those!

Hard maple is better left standing and tapped for maple syrup IMO. I have probably 30 BF of tiger maple that i haven't touched in 6 years. :P

Really, I love it! Maybe because I don't have access to it very often.

Still, I think chairs made out of it are just look awesome. I've never had enough of it to do a whole piece in tiger maple, and I think you can over do it in a piece with that wood, but man it makes one heck of a Maloof Rocker!

I need to bust out my HVLP and get good at spraying tinted shellac. My trouble with maple is that aweful yellow color it turns when you only apply clear to it.

Dave I know you made some good money today. I spend all my money on logs and buying Spanky a large ice cream cone.

Took the day off, never made a dime!

Well, maybe you need a little dogwood tea. It always got me back in high gear, when I was a little boy.
