Hey Gary... The next time you come to get pestered by Spanky, let me know, hell I only live a few miles from him and it always nice to meet another woodworker.

I’d be glad to. Its not far from an area my wife and I like to camp, just need to improve the mattress in the popup so it doesnt kill our backs. Thats about the prettiest piece of countryside Ive seen in a long time.

Ole Spanky has a hell of an operation, and a beautiful place. The view from his front porch is drop dead beautiful.  I'm about 20 minutes north of him, you're welcome to drop in at any time.

I like the figure in that bowl and the light color.  Nice work - I know you mention a defect but I'm having a hard time picking it up!

Its the obvious dark line running across the upper third of the bowl.

Thanks.  Seriously, on first look that just looked like part of the grain (technically it is) to me.

Theres a Japanese tradition celebrating broken objects repaired as a thing of beauty. Maybe this fits that category. Better than saying “I fixed a screwup”!

I finished building a slow speed driver for my lathe so I can rotate the piece with finish on it so it doesnt run while setting up. The goal is a speed of around 16 rpm with the proper viscosity finish.

Is that the treadmill motor you mentioned at AAW?

Also what is the purpose of the big white wheel?  Spray protection?

Good to get quality wood. Gary, what is in the tailstock in the third photo? Probably a live center of some sort. Never seen anything like that.
