Hammer5573
My wife wants me to build a bathroom vanity. She wants it to have the appearance of cherry in order to match the rest of the bathroom.I have a couple of questions before I begin. 1. I’m thinking that I should avoid veneered plywood due to moisture produced in a bath..? 2. What should I apply as a wood finish; I’m considering a polyurethane thinking that it has better moisture resistance..?
..Kev
I just did a bathroom vanity and used ply, I don't see any issues with it. Most manufactured products are either ply or MDF. As for finish, poly or lacquer would be great options.

Bankstick
I worked for a company selling custom and factory cabinetry. The requirement for cabinetry for kitchen, baths, or anywhere there is moisture or water is for the material adhesives to be waterproof. Remember the old days when cabinet carcasses were particle board and fell part when when wet?
