Quick (I hope) Xmas Gifts

Those came out looking real nice.  I am looking forward to seeing a finished on.  What are you using for finish?  Might I guess something fast drying.

Very nicely done. Love the pic looking down with the liner in the box, your miters line up perfectly. For a few minutes I didn't realize they were liners, I thought you cut a rabbet around the top.

Those certainly amazing Paul.  I know all the kumiko is friction fit in its construction, is it friction fit into the top also?

Just wondering, is there a reason the sides of the lid are proud of the panels? Almost didn’t want to ask that question as they look fantastic as is.

Next challenge, can you make one more where the Kumiko panels are inlaid into the top? :D

Actually, after looking at the pics again, I think the sides proud of the panels look better. Go forth and ignore my previous question!

Thanks Chet! Correct on the friction fit. Normally you wouldn't finish the kumiko panels either but since I used the same wood for the keys I thought it might look off if I didn't. Still not sure that was the right call but that ship has sailed  :P

Coop no reason just a design to off set the panel. Thanks you!

That would definitely amp up the challenge. Not sure if wood movement would become a problem at that point. These have real wood panels but they do float in dado's. I suspect it would be ok if the piece was kept small but I would want to test one through the season's before giving it away as a gift :)

I'll make sure my door is unlocked. Just come right in. There should be hot pancakes and eggs. :D
