AlexM
I recently bought a home that has railroad ties used for outdoor steps. During a heat wave I noticed creosote covering many of the steps. Knowing that creosote is carcinogenic (and smelly/sticky), what is the easiest way to get rid of the creosote? Looks like 2 viable options are to seal the steps - will this stop the smell/inhaling carcinogens?- can creosote still seep into the soil/rainwater?- do I need to remove the steps to fully seal the steps? or remove the steps and replace with pressure treated wood. thanks!
