namluke 1
Hi, I want to router a groove in some hardwood (Ash or Oak) 20mm wide and 10mm deep. Am i right in thinking using a half inch 20mm router cutter will have less vibration resulting in a cleaner cut? I have the bit in a 1/4 inch but just wondering if i should up to 1/2 or will it not really make a difference ? Many Thanks Luke

You are correct in that a larger shank bit of the same type will yield a better result in most situations. If the groove is for joinery that will not show I would be less concerned. If it is an visual detail I would get the 1/2" bit.
