BryanFaz
No clue about this motor. Since I confirmed power was leaving the power switch, I checked the continuity on the motor through the brush holes. Assuming it can be checked in that manner, the motor had continuity. Yet, it will not power on. Won’t even hum, not a sound. What is the darned problem.
Tpt life
There are two windings that can fail inside a motor, the armature and the stator. Through the brush holes just puts you on the commutator. It would be good to verify the stator windings if you think the motor is faulty.
wtnhighlander
That type of motor is called a "universal" motor. See the link for an overview of its function. @Tpt lifeis absolutely correct. The good news is that the stator winding SHOULD have an external wiring connection, meaning that connection could be the problem, rather the the internals of the motor.
Popular Post BryanFaz
MYSTERY SOLVED! I believe we located the issue. The picture at the bottom displays the culprit. There was a connector on the housing where the brushes are located. The connector broke. We tried to solder it back, after breaking the plastic housing, unsuccessfully. Trying to track down this part. I sure hope this is the problem...it makes sense.

Coop
Did it just stop working? Had you taken the cover off for any reason prior to it not working? Did you check the brushes?
