Popular Post treeslayer
so the idiot that works in my shop forgot to add a dado for the partition in a couple of recipe boxes before glue up, so the solution i came up with was to clamp the divider in place and using a 1/4" forester bit drill a 1/2" deep hole top and bottom and glue in a 1/4" dowel, trim and sand and call it a design feature , just in case if anyone else makes the same mistake, ah i mean design feature
wtnhighlander
Good save! Makes me wonder, since I don't have one, if a hollow chisel mortiser could make a similar 'feature', but with a square hole? Anyway, thanks for the idea, that's a good trick to keep in the old tool bag.
treeslayer
I have one and that would have worked, just too lazy to set it up
RichardA
I'm thinking that you need to have a long conversation with the idiot in your shop, about how to do things in a manner befitting an idiot. Oh wait..........he did. Nice save, now get him some books on woodworking.

Really nice fix Dave.
Popular Post treeslayer
Thanks @Chet, actually it was easier than cutting a dado, but I still docked his pay for the day just to teach him a lesson, and I gave him tomorrow off to relax and think about what he did
duckkisser
I used to teach my student in my wood shop class. There is no such thing as mistakes. Only ways to cover them up. Most people would not even know that there is supposed to be a dado…. Hell on a small box you probably could have gotten away with just gluing the partition in since it won’t get any stress or support much weight and a flat joint would have worked. Mark J
That may be a new joint in its own right.
Chestnut
This is an awesome fix and could present some good opportunities for an intermediate shelf like this!
