Tpt life
Pallet wood is greatly variable. Some is clean and good, some knotty and soaked in toxic brew. Just like when fishing, you pay attention to what you catch, and throw some back.
Chet
Interesting thing is most people don't realize that if you are taking pallets from a facility it is a form of theft. All pallets have some form of monetary deposit connected to them. When a grocery chain sends a truck to a canner like Del Monte to pick up 24 pallets of canned goods the trucker usually drops off an equivalent number of empty pallets. Same thing when the canner gets product from the growers. And any of the pallets involved in this process have most certainly been sprayed with pesticides at least once in their life time. I don't think I would even want to use pallet wood for a camp fire.
JohnG
Some are owned and leased by companies (Chep) and some are bough outright. We spend high 5 figures (or more) on pallets every year. Some stores/businesses that receive more palletized shipments than they send are happy to give some away, others would consider it theft. Best to ask.
