NoviceMum
Hi, I would like to attach some legs to my pine bed. I have bought some legs that have a 1inch screw protruding from them. Do I absolutely need to attach a fixing plate or screw insert into my bed frame in order to attach the legs? Is it not okay to simply screw the legs directly into the wooden bed frame after drilling a hole? Sorry I’m a complete novice obviously. Thank you. drzaius
Pine is really soft and will not hold that single screw well. You really to need a mounting plate that can be held by several screws and then the leg screws into it with a machine thread. Good luck. NoviceMum
After a little research I’ve come across t-nuts, d-nuts and fixing plates? Which one is best for what I need? Thank you.
Mark J
I suggest you post some pictures of one of the legs and the threaded fastener in question. If possible, a picture of the bottom of the bed frame might be helpful too.

The would keep the leg from pulling out, but with only one bolt holding the leg into the pine frame, the torque of side forces on the leg would like deform the hole in the frame to the point where it may loosen in time.
