thomasmiller
Marc, I am using Rubio for the first time and was wondering if I can use paste wax over a fully-cured Rubio (the cost of the rubio for this fixed-income retiree was hard enough to swallow and now I'm having a hard time justifying the cost of the maintenance oil).Your thoughts. Popular Post wtnhighlander
Greetings! Marc doesn't visit here in person all that often, but I'll offer an opinion. Rubio is a floor finish. Although the mfg. recomments 'after care' using their own cleaners and mantenance oils, there should be no reason that paste wax would be incompatible, as paste was has been used over all sorts of floor finishes for many years. Having said that, I'm sure there are other members with more exprience using Rubio on furniture.
Chestnut
The maintenance oil isn't necessary you can just skip it. The wax will make the surface more slippery and maybe provide a different sheen but other than that it's just going to rub off quickly and isn't going to help the rubio any. It is unlikely to hurt it either. So neither is an option as well.
