Ronn W
I grabbed the wrong drilll bit for the pilot hole for a #10 wood screw. The hole is the bore (shaft) diameter. Cannot use a larger screw. What is the best way to fill in the hole to get a good girp with the screw. Insert and glue a dowel and redrill?, put epoxy in the hole and redrill?, put epoxy in the hole and put the screw in at the same time? Thanks for your help and sugguestions... gee-dub
For a #10, assuming about 1/8" hole, I would use a dowel. I keep a bit of hardwood dowels in various sizes handy. I also use hardwood toothpicks, bamboo skewers dowsed with CA, or pieces of my own making. The key is patience. Glue the dowel, go away till tomorrow, drill the hole, and move along. wtnhighlander
If the screw is not meant to be removed, I just jam a piece of bamboo skewer into the hole and drive the screw. Otherwise, I concur with the above.
